The Duality of The Internet

This piece depicts the green, good parts and the red, bad parts of the Internet. In the green computer screens, people are using the Internet to share all kinds of content with each other. The shattered glass exposes the red background, in which people are using the Internet to hurt others and spread misinformation.
I drew myself in the center of this piece. The left half of my face is green, while the right half is red. I am stretching my face and pulling the “green” to replace the “red.” That powerful action symbolizes how I am trying my best to make myself more “green” and helpful and less “red” and harmful on the Internet. I hope my viewers will do the same!
I used mostly color pencils and watercolor pencils on paper to create this piece. By using a wet paintbrush or dipping a watercolor pencil in water, I was able to create a bold contrast between the red, shadowy evil and the bright, green goodness, as well as highlight the blue cracks in the white glass. I used a black ink pen to further emphasize specific areas. The drawing of me was drawn on a separate sheet of paper and placed on later so that I fit in with the rest of the scene.
