No Two Identities Are Alike

Project type

Acrylic on wood canvas

Date

2019

This piece shows the difference between what people look like on the outside and who they are on the inside. However, even with these difference, everyone is hustle and bustle around for... what? I like to observe people on the street. Although the people on the crosswalk area just look like regular, boring people on the outside, they are all different in crucial ways. They all have their own unique identities, lives, and purposes. For example, the woman in a dress has an explosion of textured color inside her, showing her love of fashion and beauty. The man carrying a guitar has jagged bolts of contrasting colors inside him, showing his unique, bold personality. But they all run around in this busy world, where are they going? Does everyone really know?

I used acrylic on wood canvas to paint this piece. I used multiple layers of acrylic to create texture and allow the bold colors to pop out. I painted a black frame around the rest of the painting to portray the scene as a snapshot of daily life.
